Parlor – May-July 2015

Summer is here, though up in the mountains we could still get frost, or even snow. It is not safe for tomatoes quite yet! My lilacs have so far not been bitten by frost this year, for which I’m deeply grateful. Many years we’re not so fortunate.

I’m experimenting with growing some violets in patio pots. Our sunshine here is a little harsh for them, and this will enable me to move them to a more sheltered place if need be, and make sure they get enough water. I do hope they adapt, because I adore violets, and I love to cook with them.

What’s going on in your garden?

  1. The violets are blooming in the yard right now, and the daffodils are bright in the garden. Surprisingly, not much forsythia so far–I think the winter was too hard on the buds. I bet your violets will grow in pots just fine. Good luck!

So far so good – thanks, Sheila!

Daffodils all done here. Seedlings doing well in the sprouting boxes. Looking forward to moving them outdoors.

We often get snow/freezing weather around Mother’s Day, and this year was no exception. Snow off and on all day Saturday.

  3. Hi Patricia, I just discovered your books this week and have read 2 of them already. Having been to Santa Fe many years ago, I can identify with some of your locations. I am a tea shop owner myself in Canada so it helps me to relax and let someone else do the baking and serving while I sit back with my own cuppa. Feel free to check into our website and blog too! Looking forward to your next book.

      Hi, Laurie –

Thanks for stopping by! Glad you’re enjoying the books. How wonderful that you own a tea shop! If I am ever in your neighborhood I hope I’ll have a chance to stop by for tea!
